Changes

Although we expect many changes in the coming weeks, this week we had a very unexpected change. Our beloved cat, Herman, passed away on Friday. Herman was perfectly fine until sometime Tuesday when he started having seizures. Will took him to the vet Wednesday morning. There they ran many different tests on him and monitored him closely. None of the tests showed anything. He died in his sleep Thursday night or Friday morning probably from a seizure that he could not come out of.

Herman was found near the nursery in June 2005, about a month after Will and I were married. Will's parents kept him at their house while we were gone on our honeymoon waiting to see if someone would take him. We decided while we were gone that we would give him a chance. We brought him to our house soon after we returned home and he has lived with us ever since. Although we know that in less than six weeks we will be occupied with a new baby to take care of, right now our house seems very empty. Herman was a companion to both of us, a part of our family, and our house is not the same without him scratching at the window wanting in, keeping us warm on the couch, sticking his nose in our breakfast, or crowding one of us out of the bed at night. He is sorely missed by us both.

7 weeks to go!

Today we had a check-up and we had also scheduled an extra ultrasound just for fun. We had 30 minutes for the technician to just play around and see if she could get some good pictures of the baby. She focused on the face, hands and feet since we don't want to know if it's a boy or a girl. It was a little disappointing because the baby kept his face nestled in part of the placenta and we couldn't get a really clear picture. Apparently he's a nose picker! While we were watching him it looked like he was picking his nose. Very entertaining. Since he is moving around so much more than last time we had an ultrasound it was even more exciting to watch the screen. I know he will start moving less in the coming weeks since he's beginning to run out of space. I'm not looking forward to that so much because I like being able to feel him move around almost all the time. The estimated weight they gave us at this point is 5.8. It looks like he's going to be chunker!
