Finally, nursery pictures!

Will, with the help of his dad, began working on the nursery soon after we told about the baby. Will painted, put up a chair rail, installed new doors and a new light fixture. The main "construction" has been done for awhile, it's when I started decorating that things slowed down. Since we're not finding out if we're having a boy or a girl I tried to go neutral, but colorful. I don't really like themes and just wanted solid colors for the bedding. I love the Eric Carle books and found puzzles that are characters from some of his books. I put together the puzzles, sealed them and framed them. Those are the picture on the walls. My Nannan did most of the bedding. She made the quilt, bed skirt, and curtain for the window. She outdid herself once again. Will's dad made the beautiful bookshelf in the corner that I'm sure will be filled in no time with books, picture and toys. Mama and Daddy gave me the rocking chair that I've already fallen asleep in once! After countless opinions from Mama and Alesha I finally decided to leave the furniture where it is now. Now all we need is a baby!

Graduation

Thankfully, I finished up my Master's before the baby arrived. It was a lot of work, but hopefully worth it in the long run. It made it much easier going through it with the same girls, Jessica, Gini and Cari. Will is especially excited for me to be done. Maybe I'll do some cooking now!

Early Christmas

Jake was leaving to go home to Missouri, so we exchanged gifts early. He's obviously counting on the little guy being a Georgia Bulldog!

21 Weeks

So we're half way! Last week (at the actual half way mark) we went for the ultrasound where everything gets measured and checked. I looked forward to this time because I had not seen how big the baby actually is since less than 8 weeks, so I knew it would be way different. They have a TV in the room so you don't have to look at the technician's monitor to see what's going on, you just look at the TV. The tech was just doing the regular black and white ultrasound that we've all seen. We had told her we didn't want to know if it was a boy or a girl, so there wasn't much talking or anything going on. She measured everything she needed to and told us what each thing was as she went. When she was finished with all that she switched the mode of her machine over to 4D. Oh my goodness. It was so cool! We could actually see what it looks like, not just a black and white hollow outline. It didn't move around too much. Will said I ate too much Mexican food for lunch and put it to sleep. It was good it didn't move a lot and end up showing us something we didn't want to see! It kept putting it's hands over it's face and would turn in toward me, away from the ultrasound wand, so we never got a full view of the face. The tech ended up talking to us a lot and printed us tons of pictures. He or she is not letting me forget it's there these days. Not only is it really making my belly stick out, but it's moving around a lot. Will finally was able to feel it move this weekend. Nursery pictures will be up soon, unless I forget! I've definitely got pregnancy brain going on. I can't remember anything!

17 weeks

I've been to the doctor twice now. Both times we got to hear the heartbeat with the doppler. It's so good to hear and I wish I could go every week to hear it. When we saw the first doctor last week. She was very nice and said in another four weeks that we would be able to have the 30 minute ultrasound and find out the sex. She was very excited when we told her we did not want to find out the sex!

I think I felt the first evident movement this week. It felt like someone flicked me in the lower belly. I poked at my stomach the rest of the night to try to get the little thing to move again, but apparently he or she has inherited some stubbornness. I'm sure I'll be feeling more than I can handle pretty soon!

Beach Trip

In July we went to St. George Island, FL for vacation with Will's family. The girly wardrobe and pose was totally unplanned!

Baby's first plane ride

June- I flew out to Omaha, Nebraska to watch Alesha's boyfriend, Jake, play in the College World Series. I was hoping, but didn't know at the time, that I was pregnant. It was a fun, long weekend in Omaha and then I drove back across the country to come home with Alesha, Mama, Daddy, and Mudd (the dog). This is getting a little crazy technical, but the baby got to see his "Crazy Uncle Jake" play baseball!

Exciting Summer

Although my summer has been over for a week and a half now with school starting, it's been an exciting one. I spent a lot of time on work for my master's, but all of that was drown out starting in the beginning of July. We planned to go to the beach with Will's parents. Katie and Tracy were also going to be there with Tracy's family. The day after we got there Katie told us that she is going to have a baby on February 22! We were very excited to be first time aunt and uncle, but at the same time were painfully biting our tongues because... we were TOO! We had speculated our due date to be February 25. Although we had not been to the doctor yet and had mixed pregnancy test results, we just knew. Through all the excitement and talk, we managed to keep our secret for eight weeks before telling our parents. By this point I had been to the doctor and they gave me the due date of March 6th. My parents were very surprised and excited. Will's were in shock and disbelief. We gave them cheesy gifts and they completely did not get it. They thought the gifts were in celebration of Katie's baby. After giving them to them, Will and I looked at each other and said, "They don't get it." When Will explained, they both dropped their jaws to the floor and I think there was also a little squeal let out. After it sank in Will's mom said, "It's like having twins!" It's still so crazy to us how close together this all is going to take place. We asked our parents and sisters to keep our news to themselves for a few more weeks as I ate often in secret and tried to wear disguising clothing. Over the past week we have told our close friends and family so now our secrets is not so much a secret anymore! Will went to the doctor with me this week and got to hear the heartbeat for the first time. He was completely in awe and now is more excited than ever. I am 11 weeks and growing and feel so incredibly blessed.

Set Up

I'm just setting up this blog. I hope this will allow us to share what's going on in our lives with our family and friends!
